Wet Leaf Tea Co.'s Organic Ceremonial Grade Premium Matcha, a testament to Japanese tea mastery and the embodiment of unparalleled quality. Grown on pristine Japanese farms, our matcha undergoes a meticulous cultivation process, ensuring only the finest leaves are selected for grinding.

Growing Process:

  • Cultivated on traditional Japanese farms renowned for their dedication to tea craftsmanship.

Shading Process:

  • Before harvesting, the tea plants are shaded to enhance chlorophyll production, resulting in a vibrant green color and enhanced flavor profile.
  • This shading process also boosts the concentration of amino acids, notably L-theanine, responsible for matcha's smooth, umami taste.

Certifications:

  • Backed by certifications from JASCERT and USDA Organic, guaranteeing the purity and integrity of our matcha.
  • Our commitment to organic farming practices ensures a wholesome and sustainable product.

Benefits and Nutrients:

  • Rich in antioxidants, including catechins, which support overall health and well-being.
  •  High in L-theanine, promoting relaxation and mental clarity without the jitters often associated with caffeine.

Ingredients: Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha powder

Brewing Guide:

Traditional Preparation Method

Making ceremonial-grade matcha involves a traditional and delicate process. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you prepare it:

Ingredients and Tools

  • Ceremonial-grade matcha powder (about 1-2 grams)
  • Hot water (approximately 70-80°C or 158-176°F)
  • Chawan (matcha bowl)
  • Chashaku (bamboo scoop)
  • Chasen (bamboo whisk)
  • Sifter (optional but recommended for a smooth texture)

Instructions

1. Preheat the Bowl:
-Pour a small amount of hot water into the chawan to warm it. Swirl the water around and then discard it. This helps maintain the temperature of the matcha and makes whisking easier.

2. Measure the Matcha:
- Use the chashaku to scoop about 1-2 grams (about 1-2 scoops) of matcha powder into the chawan. Sifting the matcha through a sifter can help prevent clumps and create a smoother texture.

3. Add Hot Water:
- Pour about 60-70 ml (2-2.5 oz) of hot water into the bowl. The water should be just below boiling to avoid burning the matcha, which can cause bitterness.

4. Whisk the Matcha:
- Hold the chawan with one hand and the chasen with the other. Start whisking the matcha in a "W" or "M" motion, using your wrist rather than your arm. Whisk briskly until a frothy layer with small bubbles forms on the surface. This should take about 15-20 seconds.
- The goal is to create a smooth, frothy texture with no large bubbles. The matcha should have a bright green color and a creamy consistency.

5. Enjoy:
- Once you've achieved the desired froth, your matcha is ready to drink. Sip it directly from the chawan, enjoying the rich flavor and aroma.

Alternative Preparation: Matcha Latte

For those who prefer a creamier, sweeter drink, a matcha latte is a great option.

 1. Prepare the Matcha:

   - Follow the traditional steps to whisk matcha with water.

 2. Steam Milk:

   - Heat and froth your choice of milk (dairy or plant-based) to create a creamy texture. You can use a milk frother, steam wand, or heat the milk on the stove and whisk vigorously.

3. Combine and Sweeten:

   - Pour the steamed milk into the whisked matcha. You can add a sweetener like honey, sugar, or agave syrup to taste. Stir gently to combine.

4. Serve:

   - Pour the matcha latte into a cup and enjoy it warm.

How to Make Matcha with a Frother Whisk

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Matcha
  • 2 oz hot water (not boiling, around 175°F or 80°C)
  • 6-8 oz milk or water (for a latte or regular matcha)

Instructions:

1. Measure Matcha:

   - Place 1 tsp of Matcha into a bowl or cup.

2. Add Hot Water:

   - Pour 2 oz of hot water (175°F/80°C) into the bowl or cup.

3. Mix with Frother:

   - Insert the frother whisk into the bowl or cup.

   - Turn on the frother and mix the matcha and water in a back-and-forth motion until the mixture is smooth and frothy (about 15-20 seconds).

4. Add Milk or Water:

   - If making a matcha latte, warm 6-8 oz of your preferred milk.

   - Pour the milk or additional water into the bowl or cup with the frothy matcha.

5. Froth Again:

   - Use the frother whisk (low speed) again to mix and froth the matcha with the milk or water until well combined and frothy.

6. Serve:

   - Pour the matcha into your favorite cup and enjoy immediately.

Tips:

- Adjust the amount of matcha and milk/water to your taste.

- For a sweeter taste, add a sweetener like honey or sugar to the matcha before frothing.

Enjoy your delicious cup of Matcha!

Tips for the Best Matcha Experience

  • Quality: Always opt for high-quality matcha, preferably ceremonial grade, for a smoother and richer flavor.
  • Freshness: Matcha oxidizes quickly, so store it in an airtight container away from light and heat.
  • Water Quality: Use filtered or soft water for the best taste.
  • Water Temperature: Make sure the water is not too hot to prevent bitterness.
  • Whisking Technique: Whisking properly ensures a smooth and frothy texture. Practice makes perfect!

Ceremonial-grade matcha is best enjoyed plain to appreciate its pure taste. However, you can also experiment with different preparations, such as making it into a latte by adding steamed milk and a sweetener of your choice.

Whether you enjoy it traditionally or as a latte, matcha offers a unique and refreshing experience that can be tailored to your preferences.

Why Matcha Over Coffee:

  • Many are choosing matcha as a healthier alternative to coffee due to its sustained energy release.
  • Unlike coffee, matcha provides a gentle caffeine boost without the subsequent crash, thanks to its unique combination of caffeine and L-theanine.
  • Matcha offers a calm yet focused state of alertness, making it ideal for enhancing productivity and concentration throughout the day.
